Washington: A US Department of Defense (Pentagon) official denied on Saturday that any orders had been issued to carry out a military operation against Iran using B-2 strategic stealth bombers. The official confirmed in a press statement that “reports of the imminent movement of these bombers toward targets inside Iran are ‘inaccurate.'”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the official emphasized that “the United States is closely monitoring regional developments, but has not issued directives to carry out any such attack at this time.”

The Pentagon official’s statements come amid escalating tensions in the region following a series of dangerous developments, including Israel’s attack on sensitive Iranian facilities, threatening Iranian responses, and Tehran’s warnings that any military support for Israel would be considered a legitimate target.

In recent days, increased US military activity has been observed in the region, including the deployment of additional defensive systems in the Gulf and the repositioning of some air assets. This context has prompted many observers to anticipate an imminent military move, especially in light of the circulating news that B-2 bombers are preparing to carry out offensive missions, which prompted an official clarification from the Pentagon to deny these allegations.
