Iraqi Government Condemns Attacks on Nuclear Facilities in Iran

Baghdad: The Iraqi government has expressed its deep concern and condemnation regarding the recent targeting of nuclear facilities inside Iran.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Iraqi government spokesman Bassem Al-Awadi released a statement emphasizing that the military escalation poses a serious threat to security and peace in the Middle East, jeopardizing regional stability. The statement highlighted Iraq’s principled rejection of the use of force in international relations, calling for respect for state sovereignty and the protection of vital facilities, particularly those under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency for peaceful purposes.

Al-Awadi further stated that Iraq believes military solutions cannot replace dialogue and diplomacy. He warned that continued attacks could lead to dangerous escalations with consequences extending beyond national borders, affecting regional and global stability. He urged major powers and international bodies to focus on preventing crises rather than igniting them, recalling that wars only result in destruction.

The spokesman reiterated Iraq’s commitment to regional and international peace and stability, advocating for immediate de-escalation and the opening of diplomatic channels to contain the situation. He called for efforts to defuse the crisis, ensuring collective security while respecting international law and the UN Charter.
