Baghdad: Al-Nasr Coalition, led by Haider al-Abadi, has announced its decision not to field its own candidates in the forthcoming parliamentary elections. This marks a significant stance by the coalition, which remains committed to endorsing candidates from the “National State Forces Alliance” that it deems fit and competent.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the coalition’s statement underscores its belief in the democratic process and commitment to the “National State Forces Alliance.” However, it has opted out of presenting its candidates due to concerns over the influence of political money and insufficient legal safeguards against manipulation, vote-buying, and the misuse of public and foreign funds.

The coalition emphasized that the credibility and influence of a political entity are tied to its ethical and political conduct rather than its electoral size. It highlighted the need for electoral reform as a critical component of the democratic process, essential for increasing participation and ensuring that elections are fair and free from undue influence.

The statement further called for the preservation of the democratic political system while advocating for reforms and warning against any attempts to destabilize the system or incite disorder. It concluded by stressing that maintaining order, security, and stability is a national duty essential to safeguarding the interests of the people.
