Baghdad: Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloglu announced the “partial” resumption of flights between Turkey and Iran as of Friday, following the Israeli aggression against Iran. In a post on the “X” platform today regarding the latest developments in air traffic between Turkey and Iran, Uraloglu confirmed that the airspace of the eastern Iranian city of Mashhad, which had been closed due to Israeli attacks, has been opened to international flights as of today.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, he stated: “Iranian airlines will resume flights to Istanbul on Mashhad-Istanbul route today. With these flights, air traffic between Turkey and Iran will partially reopen after a 15-day hiatus.”

He added: “The airspace of the western Iranian cities of Tehran and Tabriz will remain closed, and the current ban will continue until next Wednesday. We will continue our discussions with Iranian authorities regarding the return of our aircraft stranded in Iran to our country with special permission.”

He emphasized the ministry’s continued efforts to restore reciprocal flights with Iran and to return Turkish aircraft present in Iran as soon as possible.
