Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji received the Russian Ambassador to Baghdad, Elbrus Kotrashev, on Monday.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting discussed developing relations between the two countries in all fields. Security developments in the Middle East and the outcomes of the post-war period between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Zionist entity were also discussed.

The Russian ambassador praised the wisdom and policy of the Iraqi government and its efforts to de-escalate tensions in the region, appreciating the effective role played by Iraqi diplomacy in calming the situation and sparing the region the risks of an escalating conflict.

Al-Araji emphasized that the Iraqi government has made great efforts to maintain security and peace in the region and has communicated with brotherly and friendly countries to reach political solutions that spare the peoples and countries of the region and the world the scourge of war.
