Safed: An Israeli reserve soldier, Daniel Edri, has tragically taken his own life, overwhelmed by the psychological trauma inflicted by his experiences in the Gaza Strip and southern Lebanon.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Edri ended his life in the Beria Forest, located near the city of Safed. The psychological toll of transporting the bodies of fallen comrades during his military service proved too great for him to bear. These harrowing experiences, described by Edri as “horrors,” contributed to his severe emotional distress.

His mother, Sigal Edri, revealed the depth of her son’s suffering, stating that he frequently expressed being haunted by the smell and sight of corpses. This poignant testimony underscores the profound impact that military service in conflict zones can have on soldiers’ mental health.

Official statistics from the Israeli Ministry of Defense highlight the grim reality faced by the military, with the number of army casualties since the onset of the “Al-Aqsa Intifada” on October 7, 2023, reaching 883 soldiers. Additionally, over 6,000 soldiers have been wounded, with approximately 1,000 in critical condition, reflecting the ongoing human cost of the conflict.
