Rescue of 20 Illegal Immigrants Off Libyan Coast

Zawiya: The Libyan Ministry of Interior announced the rescue of 20 illegal immigrants of various nationalities, whose boat broke down at sea off the coast of the city of Zawiya in eastern Libya.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry explained that the immigrants intended to reach European shores. They were handed over to the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency to complete the procedures.

The Libyan coast remains a major departure point for thousands of illegal immigrants attempting to reach Europe via the Mediterranean Sea. These journeys are often fraught with danger, as smugglers use unseaworthy and overcrowded boats, putting the lives of migrants at risk.
