Iranian President Receives Al-Shammari, and Discusses Coordination Regarding Arbaeen Pilgrimage


Tehran: Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian received Interior Minister Abdul-Amir Al-Shammari and his accompanying delegation on Monday, who are visiting Tehran, and discussed coordination regarding the Arbaeen pilgrimage. The Interior Minister arrived in the Iranian capital, Tehran, at the head of a delegation, on Monday, at the official invitation of Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni, to participate in the tripartite meeting of the Interior Ministers of the Republic of Iraq, the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, to discuss ongoing preparations for the successful participation in the Arbaeen commemoration of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Interior Minister’s media office stated in a statement that “during the tripartite meeting, all matters related to the entry and flow of pilgrims were discussed, as well as issues related to this important occasion. The meeting also discussed enhancing cooperation and coordination in the areas of combating drugs, residency, and security-related issues.”



The statement further noted that the Iranian Interior Minister expressed his gratitude to the Iraqi government and people for welcoming the Arbaeen pilgrims, while Interior Minister Abdul Amir Al-Shammari stressed that the Arbaeen pilgrimage is an important issue between these countries.
