Baghdad: The Ministry of Transport confirmed: “Turkish planes continue to operate smoothly within Iraqi airspace, and there are no official decisions to suspend or restrict them, whether in transit or reciprocal flights between the two countries.”

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry stated in a statement, in response to what was circulated through some media outlets and social media, that: “There is no closure of Iraqi airspace, and Iraqi airspace remains fully open to the movement of transiting, landing, and departing planes, without any restrictions.”

The General Company for Air Navigation Services, a division of the ministry, confirmed, according to the statement: “The systems and policies adopted in managing Iraqi airspace are managed efficiently and professionally in accordance with the latest international standards, making Iraqi airspace a preferred and safe route for many international airlines.”

The ministry added: “Recent reports regarding the suspension of Turkish flights through Iraqi airspace are completely untrue. Turkish planes continue to operate smoothly within Iraqi airspace, and there are no official decisions to suspend or restrict them, whether in transit or reciprocal flights between the two countries.” It called on citizens and all media outlets to exercise accuracy in disseminating information, not to be swayed by rumors or false news, and to rely only on statements issued through the ministry’s official platforms as a reliable source of information.
