Baghdad: President of the Republic, Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, emphasized today the importance of preserving Iraq’s historical manuscripts and expanding cultural cooperation with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO).

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Presidency of the Republic announced that President Rashid received a delegation from ICESCO, headed by the Director of the Center for Calligraphy and Manuscripts, Edham Mohammed Hanish, at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad. The meeting was attended by Minister of Culture, Tourism, and Antiquities, Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani.

The discussions focused on strengthening joint initiatives and programs between Iraq and ICESCO, particularly in the fields of manuscript preservation and cultural heritage. President Rashid underscored the need to safeguard and restore historical manuscripts, while also working to document, digitize, and make them accessible to researchers and specialists. This effort aims to contribute to the enrichment of Iraq’s cultural and intellectual landscape.

For their part, the ICESCO delegation expressed appreciation for the President’s interest in promoting cultural cooperation. They reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Iraq, especially in heritage preservation and supporting the foundations of the creative and knowledge-based economy.
