House of Representatives Presidency Commits to Upholding Democratic Process Amidst Session Delays


Baghdad: Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani convened a meeting today with First Deputy Speaker Mohsen al-Mandalawi and Second Deputy Speaker Shakhwan Abdullah to review the recent session’s proceedings and related events. This meeting underscored the House of Representatives Presidency’s dedication to maintaining the democratic process and ensuring the continuity of parliamentary functions.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, a statement from al-Mashhadani’s media office highlighted the commitment from both sides to protect the democratic process and uphold parliamentary operations in alignment with constitutional provisions and internal regulations. The House Presidency resolved to hold a session of the House of Representatives on Wednesday to complete the agenda and continue its legislative and oversight responsibilities, aiming to align with the aspirations of the Iraqi populace and fortify the political process.



Al-Mashhadani emphasized the necessity of adhering to legal procedures and executing a responsible parliamentary performance. He urged all parliament members to attend and actively participate in the forthcoming session to guarantee its success and to achieve its national objectives.



The House of Representatives had postponed its session on Monday due to a lack of quorum, leading to widespread controversy and criticism from several parliamentarians.
