Turkey Demands Immediate Cessation of Israeli Airstrikes on Syrian Forces in Sweida


Ankara: Turkey demanded that Israel halt its airstrikes on Syrian forces that entered Sweida Governorate to resolve armed conflicts there and impose government authority. The Turkish Foreign Ministry issued a statement condemning Israel’s military intervention in southern Syria, calling for an immediate cessation of these attacks.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry emphasized that achieving stability and security in Syria benefits the Syrian people, neighboring countries, and the entire region. The statement underscored the importance of supporting the Syrian government’s efforts to establish security and strengthen its presence across the country.



Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz directed the Israeli army to launch attacks on Syrian army forces and vehicles in Sweida on Tuesday. Israeli warplanes carried out several raids on Syrian army positions and tanks in the governorate, resulting in casualties among Syrian armed forces personnel.
