Kurdistan Regional Government Embraces New Financial Agreement with Federal Government


Erbil: The Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) has expressed its approval of a newly reached agreement with the federal government concerning employee salaries and financial benefits. The agreement comes as a significant development in the ongoing discussions between the two governments.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Kurdistan Regional Council of Ministers convened a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, with Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani in attendance. During the meeting, the council addressed recent terrorist attacks targeting the Kurdistan Region, particularly on its oil fields, which have caused damage to the region’s economic and energy infrastructure. The council urged the federal government to take decisive action to halt these attacks and bring those responsible to justice.



The primary focus of the meeting was the financial state of the Kurdistan Region and the recent negotiations with the federal government. Prime Minister Barzani and Deputy Prime Minister Talabani detailed the joint understanding reached in Baghdad, aimed at securing financial dues and meeting the region’s obligations. The council expressed its approval of this understanding and committed to implementing its terms, which include the federal government sending the necessary salaries and financial allocations to the Kurdistan Region.
