Iran: The administration of both the al-Jazaba and Shalamcheh border crossings announced on Friday that 49,737 visitors entered Iraq in the first week of Safar.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the director of the al-Jazaba border crossing, Abdul Hussein Haidari, reported that from the first of Safar to the sixth of Safar, 39,816 traffic movements were recorded at the al-Jazaba border crossing. During this period, 8,030 Iranian pilgrims entered, while 22,549 departed. Additionally, 4,565 foreigners entered, and 4,672 departed.

Referring to statistics for the sixth day of Safar, Heidari explained that on this day, 12,323 movements were recorded, including the entry of 2,555 Iranian pilgrims and the exit of 8,276. Furthermore, 800 foreign pilgrims entered, and 401 left the border. He emphasized that passenger traffic increased by 13 percent on the sixth day of Safar compared to the same period last year, indicating a greater welcome by pilgrims at the Al-Jaziba border crossing. In the same context, the director of the Shalamcheh border crossing, Fouad Khasraji, confirmed that more than 138,000 pilgrims registered their entry into this crossing from the beginning of Safar until the end of the sixth day, representing a one percent increase compared to the same period last year.

Khasraji added that during the period from the first to the sixth of Safar, a total of 138,210 traffic movements were recorded at the Shalamcheh border crossing. Coinciding with the maritime transport of Arbaeen pilgrims from Khorramshahr Port to Basra and vice versa, the first cruise departed today, Friday, from the Persian Gulf Passenger Terminal in Khorramshahr Port to the Corniche Pier in Basra Port. This cruise was conducted on a specially equipped private ship, and due to the reception it received from the pilgrims, it has become possible to organize this movement on a daily basis.
