Baghdad: National Security Adviser Qasim Al-Araji confirmed that the government is focused on closing Al-Hol camp, indicating that efforts to resolve this issue are nearing completion with only a few Iraqis still remaining in the camp. The government is collaborating with the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs to encourage other countries to repatriate their nationals as part of the closure process.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Araji made these remarks at the first annual national conference aimed at activating the national effort to implement Iraq’s national security strategy. The statement from Al-Araji emphasized Iraq’s intention to leverage the expertise of friendly nations to enhance its intelligence and military capabilities.

Al-Araji further stated that the principle of ‘Iraq First’ is central to the Iraqi government, reflected in the national security strategy for the coming years. He highlighted the need for justice for the victims of the Anfal campaign and the atrocities against the Yazidis, reiterating the government’s commitment to legal action against the perpetrators, as affirmed by the Prime Minister.

He also mentioned that Iraqi security services are actively pursuing those responsible for these crimes through carefully devised plans. The development of a comprehensive national security strategy remains a key objective for the Iraqi government.
