Baghdad: Parliament Speaker Mahmoud al-Mashhadani held discussions with Ali Larijani, the Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, focusing on bilateral relations and strategies for strengthening them. Accompanying Larijani was National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the media office of the Speaker of Parliament released a statement highlighting the meeting’s agenda. Al-Mashhadani emphasized the profound ties between Iraq and Iran across various domains, including social, cultural, religious, and political spheres. He condemned the recent Zionist aggression towards Iran and expressed appreciation for Iran’s supportive stance towards Iraq and its citizens.

The statement further detailed that discussions covered not only bilateral relations but also the regional situation and international crises, particularly the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip and its humanitarian impact.

Larijani, in response, lauded Al-Mashhadani’s supportive positions concerning Iran and Palestine, recognizing the significant influence of Al-Mashhadani’s leadership and experience. He reiterated Iran’s unwavering support for Iraq and extended an official invitation to Al-Mashhadani for a visit to Iran at the earliest convenience.

During his official visit to Baghdad, Larijani also engaged with Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani, President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid, and National Security Advisor Qasim al-Araji, emphasizing the importance of continued collaboration between the two nations.
