Baghdad: The National Oil Marketing Company (SOMO) has labeled the Baghdad International Energy Forum as a significant step in underscoring Iraq’s global position. During a recent meeting with Abbas Al-Amiri, Chairman of the Ghadan Risk Management Foundation, SOMO’s Director General, Ali Nizar, emphasized the forum’s role in shaping new energy policies and inviting foreign companies to invest in Iraqi projects.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Abbas Al-Amiri confirmed that the forum’s preparatory committee has extended invitations to OPEC energy ministers, international and local energy companies, as well as experts and specialists in the field. He commended the cooperation of the Ministry of Oil, SOMO, and other relevant parties in ensuring the success of the event.

The discussions between the two leaders also covered the forum’s program, scheduled to take place in Baghdad on September 6 and 7, 2025. The event is expected to draw wide participation from key international and regional figures in the
energy sector.
