Baghdad: The political assistant to the Secretary-General of the Badr Organization, Mohammed Naji Mohammed, confirmed on Friday that the organization is closely monitoring the upcoming regular sessions of the House of Representatives next week. He expressed hope that lawmakers would fulfill the will of their voters by passing key legislation, foremost among them the amendment to the Popular Mobilization Forces Law and the Service Law, describing them as fundamental pillars for Iraq’s security, stability, and defense.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Mohammed stated that the Badr Organization appreciates the initial steps taken by the Independent High Electoral Commission in verifying and auditing the names of parliamentary candidates. He pointed out that the exclusion of several individuals subject to accountability and justice procedures, or involved in integrity cases, is a positive step toward safeguarding the integrity of the legislative institution.

He further stressed that the organization supports the fair judiciary in considering the appeals submitted by those excluded, in order to ensure justice and reinforce confidence in the electoral process, emphasizing the aspiration for fair and decisive elections that would enable Iraq’s loyal sons to serve their country, contribute to its development, and defend the interests of its people.

Mohammed also underscored the rejection of any foreign interference, pressure, or dictates in the work of the House of Representatives and its legislation, noting that parliament is a purely national institution for Iraqis, and must remain free from external meddling. Only the Iraqi people have the right to move forward with the approval of laws, not foreign powers.
