Santiago: A 7.5-magnitude earthquake struck Chile early Friday morning, triggering tsunami warnings. The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the earthquake’s epicenter was located in the Drake Passage off the coast of Chile’s Antarctic Peninsula.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the earthquake occurred at a depth of about 10.8 kilometers and was felt in several cities in Argentina and Chile. The Chilean Navy’s Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service issued a tsunami warning following the earthquake.

Chilean authorities ordered the evacuation of coastal areas, including fishing ports, harbors, and jetties, to ensure the safety of residents and minimize potential damage.
