Baghdad: The Russian Defense Ministry announced the return of 146 Russian servicemen from Kyiv forces’ captivity, and the transfer of 146 Ukrainian prisoners of war in return.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, eight residents of the Kursk region who were illegally detained by the Kyiv regime have also been returned and will be returned to their homes.

The Russian soldiers are currently in Belarus, where they are receiving the necessary psychological and medical support.

The Defense Ministry noted the mediation efforts of the United Arab Emirates in the return of the Russian servicemen from captivity.

Prisoner exchanges between Russia and Ukraine take place within the framework of the Istanbul Agreements and are usually conducted equally. Last July, a periodic exchange of wounded and sick prisoners took place between Russia and Ukraine.
