Baghdad: The Iraqi National Security Service announced today, Sunday, the dismantling of four gangs specializing in forging official documents in the governorates of Baghdad, Nineveh, and Muthanna.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the National Security Service carried out a series of qualitative security operations in several governorates, resulting in the dismantling of criminal networks involved in forging official documents and the arrest of four suspects.

The Service stated that its detachments in western Nineveh conducted a precise intelligence operation that led to the arrest of a suspect caught red-handed with five forged unified national ID cards, which he intended to sell for six thousand US dollars.

Further operations in the capital, Baghdad, resulted in the dismantling of a criminal network specializing in forging official documents. Two suspects were arrested, and a large quantity of forged documents were seized from their possession. These included unified national ID cards, Ministry of Interior identification cards, residence cards, voter cards, and a forged vehicle registration card.

In Muthanna Governorate, the Service’s forces apprehended an individual involved in forging school certificates, who was promoting his services on social media platforms.

The arrests were based on accurate intelligence information and continuous monitoring of the suspects’ movements. Luring methods were employed to catch them red-handed, following proper judicial approvals and orders.

The National Security Service affirmed its commitment to combating forgery crimes and protecting the integrity of official documents.
