Iraq Ports Company Joins Global List of Side-Loading Service Providers

Basra: The General Company for Iraqi Ports has announced a significant milestone with its official inclusion in the global roster of side-loading service providers (Ship-to-Ship Transfer - STS). This recognition comes as per the list released by the international consulting company, DYNAMARINE, which specializes in this domain.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the company's General Manager, Farhan Al-Fartousi, highlighted the achievement as a qualitative leap in performance, enhancing both export and import operations. He emphasized that the inclusion of Iraqi ports in this prestigious list marks a culmination of sustained efforts over recent years to elevate maritime services to meet the latest international standards. Al-Fartousi noted that the launch of side-loading services (STS) in Iraqi ports is a transformative step that will strengthen the company's standing among regional and international peers, while also boosting the confidence of shipping companies and maritime fleets in engaging with Iraqi ports.

Al-Fartousi detailed that the company provides comprehensive services in this sector, managing side-loading (STS) operations with advanced equipment and a team of highly qualified specialists. The company has earned excellent evaluations from the ships it has serviced, underscoring its readiness and professional capability.

He further explained that joining the international list of STS service providers is expected to significantly increase the number of ships arriving at Iraqi ports, enhance revenues, and broaden the range of maritime services offered by the company. This aligns with the demands of the global trade movement and represents an essential step in the General Company for Iraqi Ports' strategy to elevate service quality and bolster Iraq's presence on the global maritime transport map.
