Hillah Residents Protest Against Sewage Project Delays

Baghdad: Dozens of residents from the Al-Askari and Al-Akramin areas gathered in a demonstration in Hillah, obstructing the main thoroughfare to demand improvements in services and accountability for the Turkish company overseeing the sewage project.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the protest was sparked by the company's prolonged delays in completing the sewage project, which has been causing significant transportation challenges for the densely populated areas of Al-Askari and Al-Akramin. The demonstrators called for immediate action to address the service deficiencies and hold the company accountable for the setbacks.

The protest was eventually dispersed by police, who managed to reopen the main roads to restore normalcy in the area. The residents, however, remain firm in their demands for the timely completion of the project to alleviate the transportation issues they face daily.
