Cairo: The Arab League affirmed on Sunday that providing urgent humanitarian and social support to Palestine is no longer an option, but rather an urgent necessity that tops the priorities of joint Arab action. This declaration came during the 116th session of the Social Committee of the Economic and Social Council, held at the League’s headquarters in Cairo. The session was chaired by Mohamed Gamal Ifa, with the participation of member state delegations and a number of specialized organizations.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the meeting focused on key social issues, with particular emphasis on two proposals submitted by the State of Palestine. These proposals highlighted the urgent need to provide social care for the most vulnerable groups amid the worsening humanitarian situation caused by Israeli occupation practices.

Participants underscored the importance of formulating clear and practical recommendations. These recommendations are to be presented to the Senior Officials’ Meeting and subsequently to the Ministerial Session. The aim is to strengthen the role of the Economic and Social Council in supporting Arab social action and advancing it toward broader and more sustainable horizons.
