Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan affirmed that his country stands with the oppressed Palestinians in the Gaza Strip with all its capabilities during these difficult times, when the Israeli government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu has lost its temper.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Erdogan made these remarks in a press statement following a Turkish government meeting in the capital, Ankara. He emphasized that Turkey will maintain its firm position despite all the pressure, threats, and arrogance exerted by the “criminal network” that has killed more than 64,000 innocent people. Erdogan also stated that Turkey will continue to voice its support for Palestinians at the UN General Assembly meetings.
Erdogan addressed his attendance at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit, where he was the guest of honor of Chinese President Xi Jinping. He explained the organization’s global significance, highlighting its population of 3.8 billion and an economic volume of $30 trillion. Erdogan noted the importance of strengthening cooperation with the organization and its member states based on mutual benefit.
In his meetings with Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as well as numerous other heads of state and government, Erdogan stated that the situation in Gaza was a primary focus. He emphasized this issue in his summit speech and bilateral meetings.
Additionally, Erdogan highlighted the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in Mersin, which is being built by Russia’s Rosatom. He stated that the plant will contribute $50 billion to Turkey’s GDP and reduce the need for importing 7 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually. Erdogan expressed Turkey’s determination to elevate its economic status and reduce inflation.
The Akkuyu plant is Turkey’s first nuclear power plant and consists of four power units with Russian VVER-1200 reactors. Each unit has a capacity of 1,200 megawatts, and the plant is expected to produce approximately 35 billion kilowatt hours annually, covering up to 10% of Turkey’s electricity needs.
