Al-Mandlawi and Berri Discuss Strengthening Iraq-Lebanon Relations and Regional Developments


Beirut: The President of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council, First Deputy Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, met with the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, during the first general meeting of the Asian-African Parliamentary Council in Beirut.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Mandlawi expressed gratitude to the Lebanese Republic for hosting the Council’s founding meeting and appreciated Berri’s sponsorship of this significant international event. He emphasized the crucial role of parliamentary blocs in fostering cooperation and communication among representatives of different nations and in coordinating positions on shared challenges, particularly concerning the Palestinian issue.



The meeting also focused on enhancing the bilateral relations between Iraq and Lebanon across various sectors to benefit both nations. Al-Mandlawi and Berri explored avenues for exchanging legislative expertise between their parliamentary bodies. They also reviewed the latest regional and global developments, with Al-Mandlawi reiterating his condemnation of continuous Zionist violations of Lebanese sovereignty and affirming Iraq’s unwavering support for Arab countries in addressing current crises.
