Cairo: The Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and the US have issued a joint statement emphasizing that the ongoing conflict in Sudan poses a threat to regional peace. They underscored the importance of maintaining Sudan’s unity and firmly rejected any military solution to the crisis.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministers have called for an immediate cessation of external support to the conflicting parties in Sudan. They proposed the establishment of a three-month humanitarian truce, which would be succeeded by a transitional process aimed at establishing an independent civilian government within nine months.
The joint statement also highlighted the ministers’ backing for a negotiated resolution to the conflict, while expressing support for the initiatives of the Jeddah Process and the Cairo Forum. They have committed to monitoring the progress of these efforts, with plans to reconvene for a ministerial meeting in September 2025 to assess implementation.
