Pakistani Taliban Ambush Leaves 12 Soldiers Dead in Northwest

Peshawar: At least 12 Pakistani soldiers were killed on Saturday in an ambush by members of the Pakistani Taliban in the northwest of the country, on the border with Afghanistan, according to local administration and security officials.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, a local official stated that the attack occurred at approximately 4:00 AM. Attackers positioned on both sides of the road opened fire with heavy weapons on an army and border guard convoy, resulting in the deaths of 12 members of the security forces.

A security official in the area confirmed that the attackers seized the convoy’s weapons. The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for what they described as a “highly complex attack,” during which they reportedly seized “ten machine guns and drones.”
