PM Sponsors Graduation of ‘Challenge Course’ at Interior Ministry: We Support Security Institutions to Confront Multiple Threats

Baghdad: Prime Minister, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, on Saturday evening sponsored the graduation ceremony of the 30th qualifying course at the Higher Institute for Security and Administrative Development in the Ministry of Interior, known as the ‘Challenge Course.’ He affirmed the government’s commitment to supporting security institutions and enhancing their capacities to address diverse challenges.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani congratulated the graduates on successfully completing the course, noting that their graduation comes at a critical time requiring high preparedness to confront various threats, whether direct security challenges or ‘soft wars’ and cyber threats aimed at undermining citizens’ confidence in state institutions and the democratic system.

The Prime Minister stressed that the government has placed the reinforcement of societal stability at the top of its priorities through combating drugs, addressing tribal conflicts, tackling organized and cross-border crime, and strengthening the rule of law. He emphasized that state institutions are capable of thwarting any attempts to destabilize security or incite strife, pledging that such threats will not go unpunished.

In his speech, Al-Sudani said: ‘Your responsibility is to defend Iraq’s sovereignty, protect citizens, and confront outlaws and those who jeopardize national security.’ He urged the graduates to arm themselves with awareness, knowledge, and advanced technology to foil any project seeking to return Iraq to eras of dictatorship, destruction, and isolation.

He further stressed that the graduates’ duties align with the government’s national project of consolidating state institutions, upholding the rule of law, and advancing reform, urging them to implement the law in line with human rights principles and constitutional guarantees.

Al-Sudani pointed out that his government has succeeded in restoring international confidence in Iraq, improving the economic and investment climate, and launching reconstruction and infrastructure projects. He reaffirmed continued support for security institutions and the development of their logistical and military capabilities. He also reiterated the government’s commitment to holding elections and providing the Independent High Electoral Commission with the necessary financial and technical support to ensure a successful democratic process.

He concluded by saying: ‘Internal security, supported by national forces and the people, is a cornerstone for protecting Iraq’s comprehensive development and reconstruction efforts. Today, Iraq is moving forward with greater confidence toward stability and growth, and with you, the future will be safer.’
