Foreign Ministers of Iraq and Egypt Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Concerns


Doha: Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, engaged in a meeting with Dr. Badr Abdel Ati, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs, on Sunday. This meeting took place on the fringes of the preparatory gathering of Foreign Ministers for the emergency Arab-Islamic summit in Doha, Qatar.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the conversation between the two ministers focused on strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Egypt. Both ministers expressed a strong desire to enhance cooperation and foster progress in various fields.



Regionally, the ministers addressed the Palestinian situation, with particular attention to the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip. They discussed concerns over the Israeli entity’s efforts to relocate Palestinians to the southern Gaza Strip, a move perceived as a potential threat to Egypt’s security and stability.



The dialogue also touched upon the situation in Syria, where both ministers underscored the need for stabilization and the preservation of territorial integrity. They stressed the importance of coordinated Arab efforts and the translation of unified positions into actionable steps.



In light of Iraq’s upcoming elections, Fuad Hussein assured that the elections would proceed as planned. He highlighted the steady progress in preparations, aiming to ensure a successful electoral process and reinforce Iraq’s democratic framework.



The meeting concluded with both ministers denouncing the Israeli aggression towards Qatar and expressing unwavering support for Qatar, its leadership, government, and citizens.
