Madrid: Spanish Civil Defense authorities reported yesterday evening, Saturday, that at least 25 people were injured, including three who sustained serious injuries, as a result of a violent explosion in a bar in a neighborhood south of the capital, Madrid. Spanish media quoted residents as saying that the explosion occurred in an occupied store on the ground floor of the Puente de Baixas neighborhood, and that an apartment above the bar was damaged.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Madrid Deputy Mayor Maria Inmaculada Sanz stated that the explosion was likely caused by a gas leak, but detailed investigations are still ongoing. Numerous fire and rescue crews responded, and police established a security cordon in the streets surrounding the bar.
