Sulaymaniyah Asayish Apprehends Smuggler and 23 Syrian Migrants


Sulaymaniyah: The Spokesman for the Kurdistan Region Security Service in Sulaymaniyah announced the arrest of a smuggler and 23 Syrian migrants who had entered the region illegally. The Spokesman for the service, Colonel Salam Abdul Khaliq, explained to Rudaw Media Network today, Sunday, that Asayish forces were able to arrest a smuggler and “19 male migrants and four female migrants who had entered the Kurdistan Region illegally” on the night of September 11-12, 2025.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Sulaymaniyah Asayish Directorate stated in a statement that the smuggler is named A. Y. A., a resident of the Kurdistan Region, while the 23 migrants are Syrians. The statement said that these individuals “are being detained by order of the Asayish investigative judge and in accordance with Article 39 of the Residency Law,” noting that “the investigation into their files is ongoing.”
