Hamas Sends Urgent Memorandum Following Attempted Assassination of Delegation in Doha

Doha: The Hamas movement has urgently communicated with Foreign Ministers of Arab and Islamic nations, as well as international organizations, regarding an assassination attempt on its negotiating delegation in Doha, Qatar.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the memorandum was sent by Mohammed Darwish, head of the Hamas leadership council. It details that the assassination attempt occurred just a day after a leadership delegation from Hamas, including the negotiating team, met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani. During this meeting, the delegation received a “new ceasefire proposal.”

The delegation gathered to discuss the proposal when the attack took place. On the evening of September 9, 2025, Israeli aircraft reportedly targeted the residence of Dr. Khalil Al-Hayya, head of the negotiating delegation, with multiple missiles. The attack resulted in the deaths of his son, Hammam, his office manager, Jihad Labad, and three additional companions. A member of the Qatari security forces also died, and several of Dr. Al-Hayya’s family members were injured, though all members of the negotiating delegation survived.
