Doha: Qatar announced that it will host a summit of Arab and Muslim leaders to address and condemn the recent Israeli attack on Hamas officials in Doha, aiming to express solidarity with the Gulf nation.
According to TRTworld.com, the meeting scheduled for Monday will deliberate on “a draft resolution on the Israeli attack on the State of Qatar,” which is set to be prepared during a ministerial meeting on Sunday. Majed al Ansari, a spokesperson for the foreign ministry, highlighted that the summit symbolizes “broad Arab and Islamic solidarity with the State of Qatar in the face of Israel’s aggression and a categorical rejection of Israel’s state terrorism,” as reported by the official QNA news agency.
The attack occurred on Tuesday when Israeli strikes targeted a building in Doha, resulting in the deaths of five Hamas members and a Qatari security officer. This incident has sparked substantial international condemnation, notably from Gulf states that maintain alliances with the United States, Israel’s primary supporter.
Qatar has been playing a mediation role in the ongoing Gaza conflict alongside the United States and Egypt. Analysts suggest that the upcoming summit is intended to convey a clear message to Israel.
