Baghdad: The Parliamentary Legal Committee has declared that any amendments to the salary scale for employees necessitate a decision from the government rather than from Parliament.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Committee Vice Chairman Mohammed Anouz stated that discussions among some members of Parliament about amending the Civil Service Law and salary scale are merely electoral propaganda. He emphasized that such changes require a government decision due to their financial implications, aiming to avoid repeated parliamentary enactment and potential future government challenges.
Anouz further remarked on the current state of Parliament, describing it as paralyzed for various reasons. This paralysis, he noted, is detrimental to the nation's interests, as it hinders the approval and legislation of critical laws needed by citizens before the end of the current parliamentary term.
