Baghdad: National Security Advisor Qasim Al-Araji received today, Wednesday, the new head of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) mission in Iraq, Pascal Rentez, along with the outgoing head, Giorgi Gigauri.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Araji welcomed Rentez and expressed gratitude to Gigauri for his support of the Iraqi government's efforts to repatriate displaced citizens. Special thanks were given for the assistance in returning Iraqi citizens from the Syrian Al-Hol camp, as well as for the mission's overall achievements during Gigauri's tenure.

The meeting addressed the mission's priorities and its future work plan, aligning with the Iraqi government's objectives. Additionally, a conference set to take place in New York City was discussed. This event will focus on Iraq's experiences in repatriating its citizens from Al-Hol camp and encourage other countries to do the same for their nationals.

Al-Araji emphasized the Iraqi government's appreciation for the mission's role and expressed Iraq's readiness to offer all necessary support to ensure the mission's continued success. Both Rentez and Gigauri praised the Iraqi government for overcoming challenges and supporting the mission's humanitarian efforts.
