Baghdad: Baghdad Operations Command announced on Saturday the arrest of a number of wanted individuals and the seizure of unlicensed weapons and ammunition, as part of its ongoing campaign to pursue outlaws and raid unlicensed weapons dens.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the command stated in a statement that the large-scale security operations included regional searches and inspections, reviewing foreign labor files, and executing judicial arrest warrants in Karkh and Rusafa areas. These operations resulted in the arrest of a number of wanted individuals, including those accused of fraud under Article 456, theft, involvement in armed conflicts, and possession of unlicensed weapons. The operations also included the arrest of foreigners violating the terms and conditions of the Residency and Citizenship, and the seizure of a number of unlicensed weapons and ammunition.
The statement added that the operations were carried out through the formations of the 17th Infantry Divisions (1st, 2nd, 5th Federal Police), the Commando Brigade under the Operations Command, and Baghdad Karkh and Rusafa Police Commands, with the support of the intelligence agencies and agencies attached to them, to enhance regional security and preserve the security achievement achieved.
