Competent Authorities in Dhi Qar Find 37 Artifacts Dating Back to Different Eras


Baghdad: Competent authorities in Dhi Qar have discovered 37 artifacts during field visits conducted by inspectorate teams in cooperation with the Antiquities and Heritage Protection Police in the north of the province.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, Dhi Qar Antiquities and Heritage Inspector Shamel al-Rumaidh announced that the artifacts include cuneiform tablets, pottery, and metal pieces, alongside a number of stones from various historical eras. The artifacts were officially received at the Dhi Qar Police Command headquarters. The event was attended by the provincial police commander, Major General Najah Yasser al-Abadi, and the director of the Antiquities and Heritage Police Department, Brigadier General Laith Shaker. The artifacts will be transferred to the Iraqi Museum following applicable instructions.



The Dhi Qar Antiquities Inspector emphasized the inspectorate’s ongoing efforts to regularly receive hundreds of artifacts. These efforts are supported by collaborations with security agencies and initiatives from citizens, all contributing to the preservation and protection of the region’s rich cultural heritage.
