Ports Authority Seizes 41 Containers for Import Violations at Umm Qasr Middle Port


Baghdad: The Ports Authority announced today the seizure of 41 containers for violating import conditions at Umm Qasr Middle Port.



According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Authority stated that the action was based on information from the Iraqi National Intelligence Service and followed the decision of the Umm Qasr Investigative Court Judge. The seized containers were found to contain chemical raw materials, plastic granules, household items, used clothing, various furniture, children’s toys, motorcycle spare parts, different types of cars, some of which were not of the permitted model, and disassembled construction machinery. All materials were in violation of import conditions and regulations.



The Authority highlighted that a committee was formed in cooperation with the customs center, leading to the preparation of a formal seizure report. The containers have been referred to the Umm Qasr Central Customs Police Station for appropriate legal action.
