Erbil: The First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mohsen al-Mandalawi, who also heads the Iraqi Foundation Coalition, has announced an agreement with Masrour Barzani, the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Region, aimed at strengthening cooperation between Iraq’s central government and the Kurdistan region. This agreement focuses on ensuring citizens’ rights in accordance with the constitution and existing laws.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Mandalawi’s media office released a statement detailing his visit to Erbil, where he met with Prime Minister Barzani. The meeting included several representatives and revolved around discussing political developments on the national stage, alongside addressing issues of mutual interest. The dialogue emphasized the importance of maintaining coordination and communication between the central government and the region to better serve citizens.
During their discussions, Mandalawi and Barzani concurred on the necessity of enhancing cooperation to guarantee citizens’ rights and deliver optimal services under the constitutional framework. The meeting also touched on preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections, with both leaders underscoring the importance of conducting these elections in a fair and transparent manner. They highlighted the need to create a stable and secure environment to encourage broad voter participation.
In addition, both parties called for a national consensus that emphasizes service programs, development projects, and the reconstruction of Iraq, aiming to foster unity and progress across the nation.
