Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has mandated the creation of a comprehensive and practical vision to ensure seamless connectivity of new cities through easy road access to existing ring roads.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, this directive was issued during a special meeting chaired by Prime Minister al-Sudani, focusing on the Ali al-Wardi New City project located southeast of Baghdad. The meeting included key figures such as the Minister of Construction and Housing, the Chairman of the National Investment Commission, representatives from the Advisory Board in the Prime Minister’s Office, the New Cities Authority, and a delegation from ORA Real Estate Development Company.
The meeting reviewed the ongoing progress across technical, administrative, and legal dimensions of the city project, alongside land preparation and ownership transfer processes. Spanning an area of 61 million square meters, the project aims to deliver 120,000 housing units through various implementation phases.
Prime Minister al-Sudani emphasized that this city is a crucial component in addressing the housing crisis, urging all parties to overcome any hurdles impeding progress. The project is being developed concurrently with the Fursan Residential City and is in proximity to the New Nahrawan City.
Furthermore, al-Sudani stressed the importance of integrating easy road access to the ring roads for these new cities. He highlighted the need for attention to sewage treatment plants and water supply extensions. Immediate actions include opening the road linking Nahrawan and Ali Al-Wardi City, completing the ownership transfer process, resolving infrastructure and secondary project issues, and ensuring effective planning for all services and neighborhoods within the new cities.
