Five More Countries Recognize Palestinian State Following France’s Lead

New york: Belgium, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, and Andorra announced their official recognition of the State of Palestine, following France’s recent announcement through French President Emmanuel Macron. This recognition came just a day after similar announcements by Britain, Canada, Australia, and Portugal. The declarations coincided with the “Two-State Solution” conference in New York, where global leaders condemned the prolonged conflict in the Gaza Strip.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the French President declared France’s recognition of the State of Palestine during a speech at the High-Level International Conference for a Peaceful Settlement of the Palestinian Issue and the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, held at the United Nations headquarters. Macron emphasized the urgency of recognizing the Palestinian state and acknowledged the international community’s collective responsibility in establishing peace in the Middle East.

Macron highlighted the unfulfilled promise of an Arab state in Palestine and stressed the global duty to pave the way for peace and the two-state solution. Luxembourg’s Prime Minister Luc Frieden supported this stance, stating at the conference that the two-state solution is the only viable path to enduring peace.

In addition, Malta’s Prime Minister Robert Abela confirmed his country’s recognition of the State of Palestine, further signaling a shift in international perspectives towards resolving the long-standing conflict.
