Baghdad: The Communications and Media Commission (CMC) stressed today the importance of media institutions adhering to responsible professional standards in the presentation and management of political talk shows, away from personalization and defamation.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, CMC Chairman Nofal Abu Ragheef affirmed that media discourse should be characterized by balance, accuracy, and professionalism, in a way that reinforces the role of Iraqi media as a national pillar for consolidating constitutional values and social responsibility. He noted that this directive is based on Order (7/T/11438), issued on July 29, 2025.
Abu Ragheef explained that the instructions cover all platforms and media outlets and include a clear call to review the content and context of talk shows, relying on facts without resorting to negative provocations or undermining the principles of constructive, responsible dialogue.
He also urged media management bodies to follow up on these recommendations and implement them in practice, while avoiding low-level rhetoric that undermines national values and lacks professionalism and impartiality.
The CMC Chairman emphasized the need to comply with legal regulations, adding that deterrent measures will be taken against violators, in line with the Commission’s regulatory responsibilities and its commitment to safeguarding the identity, credibility, and distinguished presence of Iraqi media.
