New york: South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun-suk announced that Seoul intends to recognize the State of Palestine. During a UN Security Council session on the situation in the Middle East, the Minister stated, "The Republic of Korea is determined to recognize the State of Palestine at the moment when it will help achieve the two-state solution."

According to National Iraqi News Agency, Cho Hyun-suk emphasized that South Korea understands the aspirations of the Palestinian people for a state of their own. He noted that Seoul remains concerned about Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip and the Israeli operation in Qatar. South Korea supports the call for an immediate ceasefire and the unconditional release of all hostages.

Cho added that the South Korean government will continue to play an active role in the international community's efforts to achieve peace and stability in the Middle East based on the two-state solution.
