Baghdad: Iraq's Minister of Interior, Abdul Amir Al-Shammari, discussed on Wednesday with South Korea's Minister of National Defense, Ahn Kyu-bak, ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in security and training fields.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, the Ministry of Interior stated that Al-Shammari received Ahn and his accompanying delegation at the ministry's headquarters, where an official reception ceremony was held in the presence of several Interior Ministry leaders.

The statement added that the talks focused on prospects for cooperation between Baghdad and Seoul in combating organized and transnational crime, exchanging security and training expertise, and building partnerships that serve the interests of both countries.

During the meeting, Al-Shammari affirmed the ministry's commitment to advancing its security and institutional development by drawing on successful international experiences, highlighting the importance of strengthening ties with friendly nations, foremost among them the Republic of Korea.

For his part, the South Korean Defense Minister praised the progress achieved by Iraq's Interior Ministry and expressed his country's readiness to broaden the scope of cooperation.
