Baghdad: The Ministry of Interior’s border forces have successfully thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of drugs via a balloon across the international border.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the ministry announced that the First Regiment of the Sixth Border Brigade intercepted the smuggling operation as part of their ongoing efforts to combat narcotics infiltration into the country. The operation resulted in the seizure of 95,000 Captagon pills hidden inside the balloon, which were distributed across 102 bags, along with 1.6 kilograms of narcotics.
The ministry emphasized the crucial role of the Border Forces Command in maintaining security, stating that the vigilance of their fighters serves as a strong barrier against organized crime networks, thereby protecting Iraq and its society.
