Baghdad: The Ministry of Electricity announced today the signing of a cooperation memorandum with the Saudi company ‘Continuous Nitrogen Services’. This agreement, reached during the Iraq Investment Conference, aims to enhance the efficiency of power plants and improve the stability of the national electricity system.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the memorandum was signed on behalf of Iraq by Mohammed Naama Abdul Hussein, Deputy Minister for Production Affairs, while the Saudi company was represented by its Iraq branch manager, Mahmoud Majid Waddan. The memorandum focuses on technical and operational cooperation across several plants, including treating oil waste at the Al-Khairat plant in Karbala to improve environmental performance, reusing industrial water at the Hilla II plant with advanced treatment solutions, and cleaning pipelines at the Al-Musayyib gas plant using modern nitrogen technologies to enhance operational readiness and reduce malfunctions.
The ministry emphasized that this initiative is part of its vision to develop the national electricity system by building strategic partnerships with specialized companies capable of increasing the efficiency of existing plants and boosting their production capacity, ultimately contributing to a more stable electricity supply for citizens.
