Baghdad: Prime Minister Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani initiated telephone discussions with key leaders of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, including Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) leader Masoud Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region Nechirvan Barzani, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) Prime Minister Masrour Barzani, and Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) leader Bafel Talabani.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, Al-Sudani communicated his gratitude to the Kurdish leadership for their involvement in finalizing a recent agreement aimed at resuming crude oil exports from the Kurdistan Region. This accord includes transferring revenue from these exports to the federal treasury. The Prime Minister emphasized that the arrangement aligns with Iraq’s constitution and the federal budget law, highlighting a unified commitment to the nation’s interests.
The discussions underscored the importance of ongoing collaboration between the federal government and the KRG. Al-Sudani pointed out that such cooperation is crucial for fostering national development, protecting resources, and ensuring equitable distribution among Iraqis. Additionally, the talks addressed the significance of encouraging investments as an essential engine for comprehensive development and a driving force for transforming Iraq’s economy.
