Washington: The White House revealed in a statement this evening the details of US President Donald Trump's plan to end the war in Gaza, stressing that the Strip will become a zone free of extremism and terrorism and will not pose a threat to its neighbors.
According to National Iraqi News Agency, the plan calls for the launching of a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to reach a political horizon that guarantees peaceful and prosperous coexistence, while emphasizing that Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza, and that neither party will be forced to leave.
The initiative includes a suspension of all Israeli military operations in Gaza, including aerial and artillery bombardment, for 72 hours from the moment Israel publicly accepts the agreement. During this period, all living prisoners will be released and the remains of those killed will be returned. Under the plan, Hamas will release the remains of an Israeli prisoner in exchange for the remains of 15 deceased Gazans.
The plan calls for the Israeli military to withdraw according to timetables and criteria linked to the demilitarization process, to be agreed upon with the Israeli forces, the guarantors, and the United States.
After the prisoner release is complete, Israel will release 250 prisoners serving life sentences, in addition to 1,700 detainees from Gaza after October 7, 2023.
The plan pledges to allow full and immediate aid into the Gaza Strip upon acceptance of the agreement. If Hamas delays or rejects the proposal, the terms, including expanded aid, will be implemented in areas designated by the agreement as "terrorist-free."
Following the announcement of the plan, US President Donald Trump made statements at a joint press conference at the White House with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he said that Arab and Islamic countries would be responsible for dealing with Hamas.
Trump added that the plan includes the immediate disarmament of Hamas and the destruction of its military infrastructure, warning the movement that if it rejects this agreement, Netanyahu will have our full support to do what is necessary.
