Baghdad: MP Yasser Al-Maliki strongly condemned what he described as 'fabrications and falsehoods' made by Ali Fadhel, firmly denying any intent to offend the leader of the Sadrist movement, Sayyid Muqtada Al-Sadr, or his family.

According to National Iraqi News Agency, in a press statement, Al-Maliki said: 'Once again, Ali Fadhel appears with baseless claims aimed at stirring sedition, serving suspicious agendas that seek to destabilize the country and influence the upcoming electoral entitlements.'

He added: 'It is illogical to accuse those who belong to the school of the two martyr al-Sadr clerics (may God bless their souls) of harboring ill will toward Sayyid Muqtada Al-Sadr and his honorable family. We remain committed to the enlightened thought and noble path of sacrifice and struggle established by this school.'

Al-Maliki continued: 'We strongly denounce the cheap methods used by internal and external parties that aim to undermine civil peace and insult national figures. These allegations are nothing but lies and desperate attempts to disrupt the atmosphere of reconciliation and national rapprochement.'

He concluded: 'We will pursue all those behind these claims or those who promote them through constitutional and legal channels, regardless of who protects or supports them in spreading division and hatred.'
